Our founder’s story
Soteria was born out of a personal journey and a pressing need for change. I'm Laura, and I founded Soteria after being diagnosed with Celiac Disease on my 16th birthday—a life-changing moment that meant removing gluten from my diet entirely. Despite careful efforts, I continued to get sick due to cross-contamination, whether at restaurants with friends or even in my own kitchen.
Getting sick from hidden gluten isn't just uncomfortable—it can derail an entire day, sometimes even a week. I realized that if I was struggling this much, countless others probably were too. That’s what inspired the creation of soteria gluten cleaner, our first product.
At Soteria, our mission is simple: to provide cleaning products that create safe environments for everyone.
Our Mission
We believe there will be a day that Celiac is a treatable condition (other than removal of gluten from the diet). To help this process, we are committed to donating 10% of all profits to research efforts through Celiac Disease Foundation (CDF) and Beyond Celiac.
Our Team
Ashley Mahoney, CEO
Ashley has a BS in Chemistry, a PhD in Biochemistry, and an MBA. Her background in enzymology helped create new methods to combine various ingredients in solution.
Laura Mahoney, founder
Laura is a college student studying Marketing and Ministry.
